Mott Transition in One Dimension
I review some of the results on the Mott transition in one dimensional systems obtained in [1–3]. I discuss the phase diagram and critical properties of both Mott transitions at fixed filling and upon doping, as well as the dc and ac conductivity. Application of these results to organic conductors is discussed.

We use the Bethe ansatz equations to calculate the charge stiffness Dc = (L/2)dE0/dΦ 2 c |Φc=0 of the one-dimensional repulsive-interaction Hubbard model for electron densities close to the Mott insulating value of one electron per site (n = 1), where E0 is the ground state energy, L is the circumference of the system (assumed to have periodic boundary conditions), and (h̄c/e)Φc is the magnetic ...
متن کاملIntermediate Regime between the Fermi Glass and the Mott Insulator in One Dimension
We consider the ground state reorganization driven by an increasing nearest neighbor repulsion U for spinless fermions in a strongly disordered ring. When U → 0, the electrons form a glass with Anderson localized states. At half filling, a regular array of charges (Mott insulator) is pinned by the random substrate when U → ∞. Between those two insulating limits, we show that there is an interme...

متن کاملTopological Bose-Mott insulators in a one-dimensional optical superlattice.
We study topological properties of the Bose-Hubbard model with repulsive interactions in a one-dimensional optical superlattice. We find that the Mott insulator states of the single-component (two-component) Bose-Hubbard model under fractional fillings are topological insulators characterized by a nonzero charge (or spin) Chern number with nontrivial edge states. For ultracold atomic experiment...
